What a Sunday
is like.

About an hour and fifteen minutes. Come as you are: some people dress up; most don’t.

  1. The brownstone front of St. John's with its red door, under a blue sky
    Arriving

    Find the red door.

139 St Johns Place, between Sixth and Seventh Avenues. The B, Q, 2 and 3 trains are a short walk away.

  2. A baby looking over a parent's shoulder in the crowded nave
    Kids

    Bring the kids.

K–6th grade head downstairs to Sunday School. Little ones stay with you; the Prayground is right in the nave.

  3. Two singers laughing at their microphones during worship
    10 AM

    We begin with music.

Hymns, spirituals, gospel and jazz, with Sterling Cozza at the piano and our choir.

  4. People in the pews listening during the service
    The Word

    We hear the good news.

The Bible read aloud, and a sermon about what Jesus has done for us.

  5. Two people embracing during the passing of the peace
    The Peace

    Say hello.

Midway through, we turn and greet the people around us.

  6. Candles burning on the altar
    The Table

    Come to the table.

The kids come back up. All baptized Christians are welcome to receive; anyone may come forward for a blessing.

  7. A long table of food and treats at a parish gathering in the nave
    After

    Stay for coffee.

Coffee, bagels, and whatever else people bring. It’s the easiest way to meet people.

  8. Your first Sunday

    Sundays
    at 10 AM.

    139 St Johns Place, Brooklyn.
Wednesday healing service at 12:10 PM.

    Plan your visit

God came for us.

Grace is one-way. Nothing to earn and nothing to prove.
